Single-sided board
Also called one-side coated board, coated one side
A board coated on one side only, the front, which takes the cover printing. Depending on the board, the reverse has only a lighter coating, or none, and does not print like the front. It is used for paperback covers.
In practice
Say in your quote request whether the inside of the cover will be printed: that is what decides between a single-sided board and a board coated on both sides, which prints the same way on either side. On a single-sided board only the front is made for printing; a solid or a picture on the reverse, or inside the flaps, will not come out as it does on the front. With flaps, ask for the folds to be scored as well: scoring marks the fold line to make the folding easier.
