High-bulk paper
Also called Bulky paper, bookwove, uncoated book paper
An uncoated paper with an open, airy fibre that is thick for its weight and slightly rough to the touch, often in ivory or cream. The usual stock for fiction and non-fiction text.
In practice
It gives a short book presence in the hand and reads without glare. Photographs lose contrast on it, because the ink spreads into the fibre. Its bulk, not its weight, sets the spine width, so have the printer confirm the spine for this stock and this extent before the cover is finished.
